AirBnb Design Challenge

UI / UX / User Testing / Visual Design

I had the opportunity to interview at Airbnb and part of the process was an at home design challenge. I decided to find a way to improve, the already amazing, Airbnb iOS app. Because I had a few days to complete the assignment, I decided to come to my solution through my general process but in a more lo-fi speedy timeline.

User Research

User Research

I decided to start with some basic research, so I sent out a simple user survey to a number of friends who used the AirBnb mobile app

After consolidating the survey feedback, I started to sketch out my solution for the main problem found from research

After consolidating the feedback, I landed on an improved in-app group messaging and trip organizing feature. Currently, the AirBnb mobile app only allows users to share and discuss options in outside messaging systems, when it could all be done (and voted on) within the app itself.  Interact with the solution with this prototype.

Conclusion

Conclusion

I decided moving to SF wasn't right for me, so I declined the offer to be a product designer at AirBnb but this was a really great exercise and an avenue to put all my past experiences in product design to the test.
